challenge:
Layout, illustrate and describe the characteristics of the typeface, Julien by Peter Bil’ak. The final piece should reflect the voice and personality of the typeface and give the audience a sense of the features that make it distinct.
solution:
This speciman portrays Julien as a "rough-cut gem" likening the typeface to lapidary (gem cutting) which uses geometry to come up with a plethora of cut styles. The modular make-your-own poster format is reflective of Julien's playful mix-and-match methodology.
format:
24x32 in. poster consisting of :
Twelve 8x8 in. print double sided cards (specimen card on the front, poster fragment on the back)
